ThermoTec Yamaha Wins in South Haven
Moline, IL. – March 17, 2015
ThermoTec Yamaha FMC Racing went to the ninth stop of the Amsoil Arenacross Series to continue their success.
Coming into South Haven, Bobby Kiniry held fifth in the points chase. At the end of the night, only the top 10 in points would be allowed to “race for the championship.”
Kiniry came out swinging, setting great times in qualifying practice and coming home with a main event win on Friday night. It was his second main event win of the season, but a third place ride in the second main set him back to third overall on the night.
On Saturday, a pair of first turn mishaps kept Kiniry from podium finishes with a 10-5 for eighth overall. The weekend scores were good enough to move him up a position in the points and he now sits in fourth overall with a total of 4 points after the reset at the end of the night.
“We now go into the final six rounds with a very close points margin between the ten of us,” Kiniry said after the event. “I feel it’s now time to buckle down and try to bring this thing home, but we have a lot of work to do.”
After losing their first two riders to injury earlier this season, ThermoTec Yamaha FMC Racing’s newest recruit Josh Cartwright once again had a great night on Friday by winning his heat race and then finished second place in the lites main event for the third time in a row.
But things took a turn on Saturday for the local boy Cartwright as he crashed hard in his heat race in front of the hometown crowd and dislocated his shoulder which would end his night. Cartwright will be visiting doctors this week and his future is up in the air at the moment.
We are very bummed on this latest casualty and are hoping for a speedy recovery. If he can’t get back on the bike, ThermoTec Yamaha will do their best to find a replacement rider to ride the vacant bike and keep all of our great sponsors happy.
The team heads south to the tenth stop on the tour in New Orleans, Louisiana, this weekend, in search of more great finishes.
