Photo Report: MMRS Round 1 at Cochranes Track

The 2015 MMRS KTM Provincial Series kicked off Sunday, April 26th at Cochranes MX Track near Brighton, Ontario. The weather was a little chilly but that didn’t stop the action from heating up. There was fantastic racing from the 50cc class all the way up to the Open A class. One of the highlights has to be the constant growth of the Ladies A and Ladies B classes. For the season opener there were 22 Ladies of all ages signed up, which is a great sign for the future of Ladies Racing in Ontario.
MMRS is also home to the largest Vet contingent in Ontario. The old boys just love the optional open practice on Saturdays. Like always, John Maguire and his well-trained crew had each and every section of the track in mint shape ready for the racing action. Let’s take a look at a few crappy pictures I took throughout the day.
John Maguire had his race track in the best possible shape as always.
Mitch McColl makes some last-minute adjustments before moto 1.
Noah Whittington getting his game face on.
It is really great to see John Sparks back at the track after his scary Florida crash, as he chats with Kimpex’s Scott Whittington.
They were offering a custom mouth guard service all day long.
Fast Intermediates Dawson Tracy and Jack Wright try to keep warm in between motos.
Donald Turner and personal sponsor Oakley had a cool Instagram contest going where the 1st 2 people to spot the young Turner sisters received a cool prize pack from Oakley.
Krista Casselman made the trek down from the Ottawa area.
Also making the drive was Orange Motorsports Scott Sports rider Liam O’Farrell. Liam said he will be contending the entire Provincial series.
It was nice to see Sand Del Lee head referee Chris Holliday out on the track putting his new Yamaha through its paces.
Always-improving Lady Racer Nicole MacDonald navigating one of the many Cochranes ruts.
Here is a name from the past. Former National racer Sean Martland will be putting it to the Vet class all season long.
It’s nice to see Jack Wright out on the track after his scary stomach injury in 2013.
Close friends Nick Jones and Dawson Tracy had a wicked battle behind O’Farrell in the A class.
Airplane pilot Matt Rodmell gets a little sideways in the rollers.
Not to be out done was the super-close battle between young Kyle Jones and Ross Thirnbeck.
Hailey Johnson looks to be one of the heavy hitters in the Ladies B class.
Little Megan Byrom making the 199 proud.
Check out the size of this Ladies gate. Now that is impressive!
Allie Argue made the journey from Sand Del Lee and was the lady to beat!
Young Gemma Pope is a name to remember. This girl has some serious speed.
See you this weekend at Muttco Mountain!
