We were at historic Riverglade Motocross Park for Round 6 of the 2024 Canadian Triple Crown Series MX Nationals this past weekend. The track that has been hosting professional motocross races since 1977 had a few changes to slow riders down and it turned into a difficult mixture of dust, ruts, and braking bumps.

The number of riders was down from other rounds, with 47 trying to qualify in the 250 class and only 28 in the 450 class.

The weather was perfect and a lot of spectators came through the gate to watch the racing. Here’s a look at how it all went down.

250 Pro Am

They do this in cycle racing so I bring it over to MX. #171 Nathan Fraser was the last place finishing rider who is scored finishing both motos. That gives him what is known as the Lanterne Rouge for this round. 37-38 put him 38th on the day. He’s not big on social media and I never got the chance to talk to him this week.
#181 Alex Gatt from Penticton, BC is just racing this season to get back at it. His goal is to just finish every race and get ready for next year. 25-37 put him 37th.
#34 Devyn Smith had a rough day in Moncton. He was on the ground in the first turn and then I had people asking if he was OK from another incident they saw. He says he’s fine and looking forward to Deschambault. 22-33 put him 33rd.
#550 is Kaes Knights from Bewdley, ON. He was a consistent 26-26 for 26th overall.
#975 Corentin Dietz is racing himself back into it after an injury kept him away. He’s happy to be back on the track and will focus on 2025. He finished 25th (24-25).
#86 Bryce Wadge is here from Manitoba. It sounds like he’s gaining the confidence he needs to keep moving up the ranks. 21-23 put him 23rd.
#55 Hayden Jameson will need better starts to get better results. He was in some battles good and finished 22nd (20-22).
#208 Logan Leitzel was back and running a New England Patriots helmet. He figured this was as close as were were going to get to Boston so he went for it as a tribute to a friend who plays on the team. He just missed the top 20 after being forced out on lap 5 of moto 1 then coming back for 16th in moto 2.
#63 Kyle Murdoch from Massachusetts has done the entire series. He cracked the top 20 with 17-18. motos.
#32 Clayton Schmucki has been fun to watch race this season. I know he should be further up the results sheet but he hasn’t had that breakout ride or good luck yet this season. 19-14 put him 17th.
#640 is Aaron Zielfelder. I didn’t recognize the number but he had a good day with 16-15 motos for 16th.
#19 Dylan Rempel did not have a good day. He had a bike let go in moto 1 and then found himself on the ground and in last place in turn 2 in moto 2. He came back to 10th, which was a very good ride. He was 15th.
#12 Sebastien Racine had a day he’d like to forget. He was way back early in moto 1 and came back to 10th and then found himself in last place on lap 2 in moto 2. He’s still got that sore foot but managed to get up to 19th for 14th overall.
#29 Blake Davies is racing himself back into fitness after his injury at Round 2. The 6’4″ rider from Mission, BC finished 12th (15-12).
#143 Tiger Wood held 2nd place for over half the race in moto 1 and finished 8th. He went down in turn 2 in moto 2 and had to fight his way up to 17th for 11th.
#25 Tanner Scott had another solid day. He had a nice battle with Stice in moto 1 and came back to take 8th in moto 2. 13-8 put him 10th.
It’s great to see #57 Josh Clark back racing in Canada and taking advantage of the 250 2-stroke rule. He got 2 decent starts and finished 11-9 for 9th.
#462 Luke Fauser was in that heated battle in moto 1 and finished 6th in it. In moto 2, he was way back and could only muster a 13th for 8th overall.
#316 Evan Stice from Idaho has been a great addition to our series and is enjoying his time under the GDR tent. He was good in moto 1 and then got a great start in moto 2 to finish 9-7 for 7th.
#14 Quinn Amyotte found himself in the mix in both motos. He finished 5-5 for 6th.
#59 Wyatt Kerr almost nipped Medaglia at the line for 3rd in moto 1 after Tyler hit the grown. He had 2 good starts and finished 4-6 for 5th.
#300 Drew Adams didn’t look like he enjoyed himself in Moncton. He was down and dead last on lap 1 of moto 1 and then got caught up in the first turn and was almost last again in moto 2. He found it a little more difficult to charge through the field this week and finished 7-3 for 4th, just 1 point ahead of Kerr.
#5 Tyler Medaglia moved his way up to 3rd in moto 1 and then ran 3rd most of moto 2 until Adams got by him with 3 laps to go. 3-4 put Tyler on the box in 3rd.
#26 Kaven Benoit had to come from outside the to p 20 early in moto 1. He managed to get all the way to 2nd by the time the flag waved. He got out in 3rd place in moto 2 and then got behind Linville out front and the 2 had an epic full-moto battle to the end. 2-2 put Kaven 2nd but he takes back the red plate!
#402 Gage Linville needed this one after a couple tough weekends. The rider from Georgia led every lap of the day for a 1-1 win. He’s tied with Wyatt Kerr for 3rd in points.
250 podium: Gage Linville (1-1), Kaven Benoit (2-2), Tyler Medaglia (3-4).

450 Class

#315 Jordan Melanson, or “El Anso” as I will forever call him, hurt his leg and didn’t race but he was the choice for the Brian House trophy this year. Congratulations, Jordan.
#909 Ashton Vickers from Nova Scotia took home the Lanterne Rouge in the 450 class with 26-27 motos for 27th overall. But don’t feel bad for him because he also took home the GasGas bike in the raffle done by TJ Martin!
#700 was local rider David Strang from Moncton. 23-24 put him 24th.
#61 Brett Young was the top-finishing local rider this year, finishing just ahead of Strang. 21-23 put the rider from the surf town of Lawrencetown, NS in 23rd.
#192 Ethan Ouellette is all the way from one coast to the other. He lives in Campbelle River in BC. 22-22 put him 22nd.
I’m still waiting for a patented #51 Seth Hughes holeshot this summer. He’s coming back from a scary injury so we’ll give him another week. He finished 20-17 to crack the top 20 in 20th.
#44 Max Filipek was consistent with 18-18 for 18th. He also hung out here at the Halstead’s place so it was nice to spend some time with him and his dad out here.
#76 Kevin Sullivan from Ontario has been quietly going about his work this summer. He had his best finish so far with a 16th this week (19-15).
#40 Brendan Sipple is still up here from Austin, Texas. He also had his best showing this week with 15-13 motos for 14th.
Another long-distance traveler is #67 Tanner Merrick from Dawson Creek, BC. 13th is his best finish of the season, too (16-12).
You weren’t alone if you were wondering who the stylish rider on the #694 was this week. Nick Inman is here from Illinois. He raced Sand Del Lee too and finished 10-14 for 12th this week, 2 better than last week.
#117 Michael DaSilva was back in action after being away recovering from breaking 6 vertebra. He was all 1’s this week with 11-11 for 11th overall. Watch for him to crack the top 10 net week at Deschambault.
I would say the most impressive performance of the day was #418 Ethan Stevenson with his 12-10 10th place showing. It was enough for us to give him our Ryno Power Canada “Privateer Performance of the Week” for the 450 class.
When #377 Daniel Elmore wasn’t alone on the track, he was fighting with Eales. They were bar to bar late in moto 1 and Natzke got between them in the last corner for the checkered but slowed to let Eales back by so they could sort it out one more lap. Daniel finished just behind parker. 9-9 put him 9th.
#18 Parker Eales is enjoying a good summer at the races. He found himself up in the mix in both motos and was a very solid 8-8 for 8th.
This was #17 Julien Benek’s first race back after his bad crash at Gopher Dunes. He’s back up to speed and looked good fighting the top riders this week. 7-6 put him 7th and watch for him again this week.
#84 Tanner Ward wasn’t happy with his day, but, man, was he strong late in the motos! He closed in on 4th and 5th late in moto 1 and then sort of ended up on his own in moto 2 for 6th (6-5).
#245 Matti Jorgensen came up to ride TJ Martin’s 450 with help from Brennan Schofield. He was a factor right away and his fight with Tanti was a good one. 4-7you put him 5th.
#109 Aaron Tanti applied pressure to Kilroy and forced a mistake on the last lap to take 2nd from him in moto 2. He was up and then down in moto 1 and finished 4th overall (5-2).
#808 Preston Kilroy has been a good hire for the MX101 team. He’s really getting comfortable and looks to be the next fastest rider after the 2 KTM riders. 3-3 put him 3rd.
#23 Josiah Natzke led all 16 laps for the win in moto 1. He had a scary crash after turn 2 in moto 2 and knocked the wind out of himself. It looked like he may also lose his seat but it stayed on. He charged all the way up to 4th place by the flag to ensure he didn’t lose too many points to his teammate.
Chalk up another win for #15 Jess Pettis. He chased Natzke all of moto 1 and then led every lap of moto 2. It’s down to the two teammates for this title and Jess now has an 8-point cushion with 2 rounds remaining.
450 podium: Jess Pettis (2-1), Josiah Natzke (1-4), Preston Kilroy (3-3).
