Who/what inspired you to get into the sport of motocross and how long have you been racing/riding?
My dad got me my first bike when I was 3 years old. I did a few off-road races when I was younger and tried my first motocross race in 2016 and have since been racing motocross and love it!
When not on a dirt bike how do you keep yourself busy? Are you involved in any other sports or extracurricular activities?
Throughout winter in the off season for the past two years I started snowbiking. I have a Husqvarna FC450 with a 120R Timbersled. It’s been a great way to stay in shape and get seat time in when it’s too snowy and cold to ride my dirt bike. I love riding the backcountry to finding crazy drainages and doing drops into deep powder!
Who is your all-time favourite rider and why?
I have a couple favourite riders. Shelby Turner and Shawn Maffenbeier are two that I’ve always been a fan of and looked up to. Shelby is one of Canada’s best and fastest female racers. She is a very well-rounded rider and can dominate in any discipline of racing such as motocross, off-road, and enduro cross. Shawn, I’ve watched at the Kamloops track practicing and racing at the Triple Crown Series for years. Most recently I had the opportunity to ride with and learn from Shawn to get ready for the WMX series. He’s a great guy and super awesome to hangout with.
What is your favourite track and why?
I love to ride at a lot of different tracks but the Wild Rose MX track in Calgary, Alberta, is definitely one of my favourites. The track has a super fun layout that flows really well with big jumps that I love. It’s also super cool being in the middle of Calgary with the city in the background. I raced my very first WMX national in 2019 at Wild Rose.
What event do you look forward to most every year? What’s one you don’t ever want to miss?
I hope to never miss the WMX Triple Crown series, but one of my favourite races I’d never want to miss is the Big Kahuna at the Whispering Pines track in Kamloops, BC. I’ve raced it for 3 years but unfortunately it was canceled in 2024.
Who has been your biggest inspiration/hero on and off the track?
My dad is my biggest inspiration and hero! He always works hard at everything he does, and is positive all the time.
What are your plans for this upcoming season? Any specific events you’re looking forward to?
I just finished the Western WMX Triple Crown Series. I am currently racing the Eastern WMX Triple Crown Series. In the fall when I get home I will continue following the Future West Moto Series in BC and any off-road races that I can make it to.
What are your biggest accomplishments to date?
My biggest accomplishment has been finishing 3rd in the Western WMX series for 3 years in a row. 2024 has been my most consistent year, getting on the podium every weekend. Also winning the woman’s expert class at the Big Kahuna in 2023 was a big accomplishment as well. It was my third year racing the Big Kahuna and winning was very rewarding.
What is the biggest lesson that motocross racing/off-road has taught you so far?
To always have fun no matter what, even if you crash, have a bad start, or just have an off day riding. I always just try to have fun and take whatever has happened and turn it into motivation for the next time I ride or race.
What kind of track/dirt do you feel you excel at most and why?
I definitely excel the most at hard pack tracks, especially ones with big jumps and fast open sections.
If you could give 1 piece of advice to a female of any age who wants to start riding what would it be?
Never give up and always have fun!
What was your first race number and how did you choose it?
My first race number was 12. It’s my twin and I’s birthday and it’s always been my favourite number.
What are your thoughts on the Canadian WMX Triple Crown?
I really like the series. It’s a great opportunity to ride on a pro level track on pro day. Triple Crown does a great job including the women in all the programs.
