Out of the Blue | Jordan Jarvis | Brought to You by Schrader’s
Name: Jordan Jarvis
Date of Birth: 03/23/2001
Hometown: Leesburg, Florida
Race Number: 301
Bike: Yamaha 250
Classes: WMX or Men’s Pro
Who/what inspired you to get onto a dirt bike and how long have you been racing/riding?
I started riding because my dad raced when he was younger and I wanted to do what he did. My dad gave me my first bike when I was five. I’ve been racing for 18 years.
When not on a dirt bike, how do you keep yourself busy? Are you involved in any other sports or extracurricular activities?
My life pretty much revolves around dirt bikes. When I’m not riding I’m working out or working on bikes. If I get some time at night before bed I’ll read or draw.
As a racer, are there any obstacles you feel a female racer has to deal with that maybe a male racer does not?
I think female racers have to deal with a lot when it comes to sponsors and stuff like that. Winning the women’s class doesn’t mean as much as winning the men’s class. Sponsorships are 10 times harder for women to get and keep than it is for the guys.
What is your favourite track and why?
My favorite track is High Point or Thunder Valley. I like the elevation and the ruts and the big jumps
What are your plans for this upcoming season? Any specific events you’re looking forward to?
I would love to do the Triple Crown Series this year but that is still up in the air. At the moment, I’m planning to race the WMX series in the states and go back to Loretta’s.
What are your biggest accomplishments to date?
I think my biggest accomplishment is qualifying for the men’s pro national in the 250 class.
What kind of track/dirt/terrain do you feel you excel at most and why?
I think I do the best when the track is super rough and rutted. I am normally one of the taller ones in the women’s class and I have always been strong so I am comfortable in those conditions.
If you ever have children will you give them the option to race as well?
Absolutely. If they want to race that is going to be up to them but if they show interest I’d love that. Motocross is something special. I have made so many friends that I consider to be close family now and I’d want the same opportunities for them.
If you could give 1 piece of advice to a female of any age who wants to start riding what would it be?
My advice is to don’t listen to everyone. You will have a ton of people telling you not to do it or that you could get hurt or anything like that. Moto is one of a kind. You could get hurt walking out of your house. Don’t let someone scare you out of doing something you want to do.
What was your first race number and how did you choose it?
My first race number was 663. I got that from my dad. It was his old pro number.
Do you see yourself ever competing in the Canadian WMX Triple Crown series? Or have you competed in the WMX Triple Crown Series? What are your thoughts on the series?
I would love to compete in the WMX Triple Crown Series. I think it’s awesome that women are getting support like that and getting that kind of attention.
Who would you like to thank?
I want to thank my parents, FXR, ODI, FC Suspension, FMF, Adept graphic, ogio, spec bolt, fastway moto, hammer nutrition, CTI, atlas brace, asv levers, engine ice, bob the cooler, tamer, gizmo mods.
