It’s time for Monday Morning Coffee where we talk about things that happened in the sport of Motocross and usually a bit more.

Now that the dust has settled here in Canada, we’ve got a few riders who still haven’t had enough racing and are lining up at Round 10 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship down in the USA. Kudos to Kevin Tyler and his MX101 FXR Yamaha team for taking the entire crew down to Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, MD last weekend for the racing last week.
No, the results weren’t what he or any of the riders would have liked, but you don’t gain anything by staying away.
Here’s a look at their results:
250:
#612 Sebastien Racine – Casselman, ON
Q – 53rd
Consi – 8th
#424 Austin Jones – Perth, ON
Q – 57th
Consi – 16th
450:
#77 Preston Kilroy – Afton, WY
Q – 11th
Moto 1 – 33rd
Moto 2 – 22nd
Overall – 29th
It seems hard to believe that a rider as fast as Sebastien wouldn’t even make it into the motos, but the level of competition is so deep in the AMA that it takes a next level effort to get in. Just like in Supercross, if you don’t get a solid qualifying lap in, everything builds off of that and it makes it very difficult to have a good day with bad gate choice followed by a bad start. You just aren’t going to pick your way through that crowd up to a good position, like Seb would be able to up here.
I had a quick chat with KT and he mentioned that the cards were stacked against them with the conditions they had (tilled deep and then rain) in the 250 B practice and qualifying, compounded by the fact that they didn’t have scoop tires mounted.
They’re waiting to hear back as to whether or not they’re in for the final round this weekend at Ironman MX near Indianapolis, so we’ll have to wait until we see the official entry list to know for sure.
They barely got Preston into Budds this past weekend after being told the final 3 rounds were sold out.
#485 Devyn Smith and his dad, Troy Smith, also made the long drive to Baltimore, essentially. These guys are all the way from Maple Ridge, BC, so they are committed! Here’s a look at Devyn’s day:
Come into the Team Canada VIP Pit Area, don’t be stuck out in the elements with no where to sit or put your bags. For the first time ever, it will be open to you for Friday, Saturday and Sunday! From opening ceremonies on Friday to the last checkered flag on Sunday you will feel like you are right in the heart of the action.
We will have 2 chefs on hand creating culinary delights, snacks, refreshments. Wine and spirits will be provided as well as soft drinks and still and sparkling water.

There will also be a lounge area with comfortable seating so you can put your feet up. Anyone who has been to an MXON knows how much walking is involved and we want to ensure we have a space for you to rest between motos. Umbrellas, noise makers and flags will be provided if needed as well.
WIFI will be provided, we have our Starlink ready so you can connect with home or post to your socials at all times
Champagne toast Saturday and Sunday with the whole team
Breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday at the team truck
We are limited for space as the venue limits us so these passes will only be offered in a small quantity and it will be first come first serve.
Weekend pass plus paddock pass is included. We will have a Team Canada Welcome Dinner that you will also be exclusively invited to attend, where the riders will have special signature items for you on your arrival.
This level of hospitality truly is once in a lifetime, you do not want to miss out
So, I was driving home after taking Emily out for her coffee break the other day. I pulled up behind a car making a right turn at a busy intersection with stop lights. The cross traffic was getting an advanced turn signal so I expected the car to take advantage of it and make the turn before the busy traffic got the green to go straight. Nope. They just sat there.
I gave a tap of the horn and they moved up a little closer. I tapped it again and they finally went and I followed. I had just saved them some busy traffic frustration, not to mention the steady stream of foot traffic that would have kept them sitting there until the light went red again.
It’s really difficult to give a “friendly” tap of the horn with car horns these days. I gave her the obligatory wave as we headed down the road. I was going left at the next light and drove past her as she was stopped at the next light. When the light went green, I’m pretty sure she looked over at me with an angry look on her face and yelled, “SIMP!”
I can’t be 100% sure if that’s what she yelled, but it was one syllable and sounded like that, so I think it must have been.
I couldn’t help but just start laughing a little bit.
Then, after I made the left, a driver was driving at an almost stop as they veered to pull into a driveway. They realized it wasn’t the right one and swerved back out into my lane to move on. They did it again. They finally found the correct address and pulled in WITHOUT A COURTESY WAVE!
If you screw things up while you’re driving, just give a bloody wave to the people you are torturing. Don’t look all mad and act like it’s someone else’s fault. You screw up, you apologize. It’s pretty SIMPle.
I feel like we’re losing what it means to be Canadian lately and I hate it. I’m seeing way too much lack of courtesy these days. Tighten it up, Canadians!
This clip by RussoGraphy of 250 Champion Haiden Deegan revving his bike to the moon at Budds Creek has sort of gone…viral and the comments are worth the scroll.
I’ll be at Ironman MX this Saturday for the final round so watch for coverage of whichever Canadians make the trip and Drew Adams in his first AMA Pro National
