5-Lap Sprint – Team Royal Distributing Fox KTM Canada
By Jeff McConkey
This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get the invite to Montreal to hangout with the 2015 Royal Distributing Fox KTM Canada race team. After a great day of team meetings, we followed it up with a nice dinner and then some serious go-kart racing. We asked several team members a few of the same questions. Let’s hear what they had to say:
1) Name your 3 favourite Canadian riders of all-time:
Claudie Lapointe
Jolene Van Vugt, Heidi Cooke, and Eve Brodeur.
Eve Brodeur
JSR, Heidi Cooke, and Guy Giroux…Top-Pimp Giroux (laughs).
Tanner Ward
JSR, Colton Facciotti, and Cole Thompson.
Kaven Benoit
JSR, Carl Vaillancourt, and Blair Morgan.
Cole Thompson
We’ll go Blair Morgan, JSR, and Doug DeHaan.
2) Name your 3 favourite Canadian tracks of all time:
Claudie Lapointe
Sand Del Lee, Ste. Julie and Valleyfield – back in the day
Eve Brodeur
Ste Julie – when it’s not raining, Walton – when it’s not raining – and Gopher Dunes.
Tanner Ward
I’ll have to go Walton, Deschambault, and Sand Del Lee.
Kaven Benoit
Ulverton, Gopher Dunes, and Deschambault.
Cole Thompson
I will go Walton, Sand Del Lee, and Deschambault.
3) Who is going to win the Canadian MX1 and MX2 Championships this season?
Claudie Lapointe
MX1 Cole Thompson, MX2 Kaven Benoit , Supermini East Coast Tanner Ward, and Women’s East Coast Eve Brodeur.
Eve Brodeur
MX2 Kaven Benoit, and MX1 Cole Thompson. #KTMrepresent (laughs)
Tanner Ward
I definitely have to go with my two teammates, Kaven Benoit and Cole Thompson.
Kaven Benoit
MX1 Cole Thompson, MX2 me, hopefully (laughs).
Cole Thompson
Kaven Benoit for the MX2, and I can’t name the other one…I don’t know, it’s going to be a tough battle.
4) Villopoto or Cairoli, and why?
Claudie Lapointe
Villopoto. Let him get in the Euro race mode and you’ll see why.
Eve Bodeur
I haven’t been following the MXGP before, so I would go with Villopoto. But with the results from the first round, I might change my mind and go with Cairoli (laughs).
Tanner Ward
I think Cairoli, because he has the experience over there. The tracks are a lot different than they are in America. It is going to be a tight battle between those two.
Kaven Benoit
I’m a Villopoto fan all of the way, so hopefully he regroups and starts getting some wins.
Cole Thompson
Villopoto. I mean, it’s cool to have an American over there. And it will be cool to follow the series now that he is over there.
5) Who are your picks for AMA SX Championships, 450, 250 West, and 250 East?
Claudie Lapointe
Dungey, Musquin and Webb.
Eve Brodeur
450: Ken Roczen, 250 West: Cooper Webb, and 250 East: Marvin Musquin.
Tanner Ward
450 I think I’ll go with Dungey, 250 West I’ll take Cooper Webb, and 250 East is Musquin.
Kaven Benoit
450 Dungey, 250 West Cooper Webb, and 250 East is Marvin Musquin.
Cole Thompson
I’ll go Dungey 450, Cooper Webb 250 West, and I’m thing maybe Musquin 250 East.
