2016 MXON| Friday Photos | Shot Race Gear
By Billy Rainford
Finally, the internet seems to be loading photos at a decent pace. Not really, but it was OK to wait for my camera batteries to charge with only 1 adapter to use. Things just seem to take a little longer to do over in Italy…except the driving. I love the driving here. They really seem to have a respect for cars, speed, and proper driving rules. I haven’t seen one slow driver in the left lane all week!
Today was the chance for the riders to walk the track and get introduced to the crowd. It was tech inspection day and final check list day. Here are a few shots from a perfect day here in northern Italy.
We made it back to our Lake Maggiore home in time to brush our teeth and head to the track today.
We literally hadn’t walked 20 feet when we saw this guy chilling in B Parking Lot with a personal keg. Classic MXON stuff, right there.
It never takes long to spot something out of the ordinary. There was actually a lot of work that went into this thing!
Team Canada’s pits are beside Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Austria, and Slovenia.
Speaking of things that need a lot of work… I’m just kidding, Randy Maffenbeier.
Now THOSE are the hands of a mechanic.
One of Shawn Maffenbeier’s 2 bikes just waiting.
FIM license? We need that? Wink, wink.
Early patriotism.
And this wasn’t even the steepest hill!
The hill that starts with white banners and ends with yellow is too steep to walk. Riders will be jumping down this. It should be good.
The guys: Kaven Benoit, Tyler Medaglia, and Shawn Maffenbeier.
Team France had some fun on the pump track.
It really would have looked bad if one of them got hurt.
Deeper! Till it deeper!
The glamorous life of the trophy girl.
I know he’s young and I shouldn’t pick on him, but that may be the worst man bun I’ve ever seen!
So, you say you have a few good moto stories, eh? These guys have been there, done that…twice.
It didn’t take the Brits long to make an appearance. Yes, this plastic table broke underneath him and he fell on his face. Of course I waited and snapped photos!
Canada, eh!
The team ready to get introduced to the crowd.
Kourtney Lloyd thought she was on a Christmas float.
Our old buddy, Kerim Fitz-Gerald, hanging out in the pits.
This photographer hates attention…
The Russians get their turn out front.
Someone actually threw THEIR goggles to Team France. That was some funny stuff.
The defending champions got a very warm welcome.
The final team introduced is the home squad, Team Italy. They sang their anthem and the crowd went crazy…and added a Antonio Cairoli song, too.
Things get serious tomorrow, so be sure to tune into our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages to stay on top of the Canadians and the event in general.
