$2 Tuesday: The Morden Mud Race of 2011
By Billy Rainford
Wow. I was looking through some old photos and stumbled onto these gems from that horrible weekend a few years ago in the southwest corner of Manitoba at Shadow Valley Raceway. What a mess! Check out a few shots from that memorable day:
Mid-week was fun as we spent a couple days hanging out with the Maffebeier’s and Kyle Carruthers lined up against Randy Maffenbeier at the track in Swift Current.
That’s Randy getting some air.
And that’s Topher Ingalls running the pit board for Kyle.
You tell me if Kyle was listening…
LOL
Kyle and Randy with some post-moto bench racing.
With the sunshine in our side-view mirrors, we headed off to Manitoba.
This guy doesn’t look too happy with the way his moto ended. Yes, that’s his bike in the bucket following him up the hill.
I’m there to take photos and then talk about them, not dig bikes out of the mud…sorry.
This was the night the crazy storm rolled through Saturday night and totally demolished the KTM awning. It was cool how everyone rallied to help them out.
Like I said, I’m not getting in there.
The start gate is a pretty cool set up at Shadow Valley.
Nicky Beatty in for a fresh set of eyes.
This looks like the end for this rider.
Looks like he (is that Brock Hoyer?) took a bit of a header.
I remember this like it was 4 years ago. That’s Zack Deiana at the end of his race.
Jeremy Medaglia with the mud goatee.
Mud is pretty tough on moving parts.
Red Julie with the hair twirl.
#23 Shawn Maffenbeier, #16 Jared Allison, #1 Dusty Klatt, and #10 Colton Facciotti head into turn 1 out front.
Iain Hayden with the classic bike push finish.
Artsy shot of Jeremy Medaglia pre-moto.
Is that Doug Dehaan running the pit board for Topher Ingalls? Does this one say, “Get up!”?
MX2 Podium: Tyler Medaglia, Kaven Benoit, Jeremy Medaglia.
Colton Facciotti looking for the ‘dry lines.’
That’s Sonni and Dianna Monster.
There was a small river running through the bottom by the end of the day.
That’s probably the best pit sign you could see on one of these days.
This was Maffenbeier digging out his one boot.
I think he had one socked foot up on stage getting his holeshot cheque.
MX1 Podium: Colton Facciotti, Dusty Klatt, Kyle Keast.
